Join the Dads Club

The Tanglewood Dads Club is a great way for dads to get involved! The group of dads gather a few times a year to get projects done around our school. Last year over 100 dads contributed their time and effort to make Tanglewood a better place for students and teachers. Over a few work days TW Dads have completed a number of much needed projects, including a “makeover” of the teachers’ breakroom, tree trimming on the playground, landscaping work in front of the school, and painting the foyer, ramp, and the downstairs bathrooms. The TW Dads also worked to make the rock climbing wall in the gym usable for the first time in years.

The goal of the group is to give the principals and teachers another avenue to get some necessary projects done around the school. Our Tanglewood building is now almost 60 years old, and as with any building that old, there are always maintenance needs that require attention. While the staff and budget are stretched thin, TW parents are always ready to chip in to make the school a better place for our kids and community. Typically the projects can be handled in a couple of hours on Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon.

Our Assistant Principal, Mr. Mocek, is already receiving a number of project requests from teachers this year. In September or October, the group will have it’s first work day. We will also have new Dads Club Chairs for the 2019/2020 school year, Kirk Kelly and Craig Schkade. If you are interested in helping with Dads Club and would like to get on the email list, please let Craig (craig.schkade@hillwood.com) or Kirk (kirk.kelly@transwestern.com) know. Hopefully TW Dads Club can provide an opportunity for some dads to contribute to the school in a meaningful way, even if they can’t be there during the school day.
