Another amazing Tanglewood event is in the works….. Monday, May 5th will be this year’s Artapalooza—
If you are a new family to Tanglewood, you might wonder “What is Artapalooza?” Our Tigers consider it the best day of the year! This is a day where creativity and imagination come alive in a magical celebration of the arts! This one-day event is one of the many reasons Tanglewood is so special, as our students get to experience their school transformed overnight into a wonderland of artistic expression. The day is fully dedicated to allowing our Tigers to experience many different types of fine arts, sparking hearts and minds.
It all comes together beneath the schoolwide Artapalooza theme this year’s being ArtapaZOOla, where all students will create animals of all kinds and every hallway will tell a story within this theme. Each grade will create its dazzling part of the story, bringing together colors and designs through special student-led artwork. Parent volunteers help execute the grade-level projects that have been carefully chosen to suit the theme and skill level of each grade. The day is dedicated to both creating this art and experiencing it!
During Artapalooza, each class has a carefully curated schedule that allows students to create exciting, hands-on art projects within their classrooms and grade levels, as well as participate in community visitor-led events with local musicians, dancers, and artists of all kinds. Students will be engaged through workshops and performances that showcase the magic of creativity. With each lesson or performance, our kids get the chance to learn new skills, try new things, and see how art can bring people together. It’s a gift to take a day to let their imaginations run wild, create sculptures from everyday materials, paint murals together, listen to local musicians, learn interpretive dances, and even compose their own music.
This wonderful experience wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our community. Thanks to the incredible support from our donors last year, every aspect of Artapalooza is fully funded. From the T-shirts to the classroom project supplies and the outside artists who come in to teach, the kids simply get to show up and open their minds!
Our goal is simple: create an entire world of the arts around students, giving them the chance to experience the joy of creating, performing, and collaborating with others. We want them to walk away from Artapalooza with not just memories, but a deeper love for the arts, a renewed sense of self-expression, and the confidence to keep exploring their creativity for years to come. They will get the see the fruits of this day for the weeks to come, walking the hallways and experiencing types and themes of art from all grade levels!
We can’t wait to see the incredible things our students will create, and we are so grateful for everyone who helps make this event possible. Let’s celebrate art, creativity, and the bright future of our young artists.
