#1 Yoga

Tuesday
Grades 1-2

You’ll love getting on the mat, learning poses (asanas) and breath work. We’ll move, play and have fun while learning about the mind-body connection of yoga. This class is for BOYS and GIRLS at all levels! Mats will be provided for your child to keep. Limited to 8 students. Ms Simanek

#2 Tiger Spirit Cheer

Wednesday
Grades 1-5

Bring your biggest smile, loudest voice and best moves! Our spirited Tigers will learn amazing cheers and new cheer skills. Pompoms or t-shirt will be provided. RahRahRah! Limited to 16 students. Ms Hearn & Ms Ringnald

#3 LEGOS Are Alive

Wednesday
Grades 1-2

Bring your LEGOS to life! Students will be able to build working motors and sensors, program their models using computer software and explore a series of cross-curricular/theme-based activities. Limited to 8 students. Ms Castro & Ms Walton

#4 Slime Machine

Wednesday
Grades 1-2

Let’s get icky! Come join the fun as we make and explore different types of slime, oobleck and floam! Limited to 10 students. Ms Belew

#5 The Science of Me

Tuesday
Grades 1-2

Learn all about the body’s systems and how they work to make us who we are! Please note that we’ll use a sheep’s head in one session and food-based activities in others. See registration website for information about alternate activities and managing allergy/dietary concerns. Limited to 10 students. Museum of Science & History

#6 Tennis

Wednesday
Grades 1 – 2

Come have loads of fun learning to play tennis! We’ll start with drills to teach the fundamentals — coordination, drills, ad rules. As you progress, we’ll rally and play games to learn grips, stance, footwork, and more! This class is 9 weeks long to accommodate any inclement weather days. Limited to 16 students. McLelland Tennis

#7 Pickelball

Grades 2-3

Hit the Pickelball court with Mrs. McKenzie and Mr. Mocek! What is Pickelball? Pickelball is a paddle sport for all ages and skill levels that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Limited to 16 students. Ms McKenzie & Mr Mocek

#8 Tiger Dodgeball

Grades 2-5

Participants will learn the basics of dodgeball including catching, throwing, and dodging. Dodgeball is a fun, fast-paced sport that encourages teamwork, honesty and humility. Limited to 20 students. Mr Stephens & Ms Wagman

#9 Chess

Tuesday
Grades 2-5

Open to anyone interested in Chess. Younger players will learn the basics of the game including setup, objectives and basic movements. More experienced players will learn openings, tactics and mental strategies. Limited to 20 students. Ms Hyde & Mr Stephens

Tiger Strong makes fitness fun while teaching fundamental skills, movement, goal setting and teamwork. This age-appropriate fitness class promotes the joy of movement while building confidence, competence, coordination and movement. Limited to 16 students. EnduraLab / Mr Hargrave

#15 Wearable Art

Grades 3-5

Join us as we paint, craft, color, decorate and create t-shirts, jewelry and other fun wearable designs. Watch out Pinterest, here we come! If we can wear it, we can decorate it! Limited to 10 students. Ms Kirk & Ms Kirk

#16 Basketball

Grades 3-5

Students will learn and practice their basketball skills such as ball handling, passing, and shooting. We will play fun games to help improve skills. We will have lots of fun practicing all areas of the game. All skill levels are welcome! Both teachers/coaches have extensive basketball backgrounds. Ms Cunningham & Ms Quinn

#17 Needlepoint

Wednesday
Grades 3-5

Students will learn to thread needle with yarn, make basic and classic stitches and work on plastic canvas. Students will be able to complete at least 2 small decorative magnets – great for them to give as holiday gifts! They will get to keep the tapestry needle as well as magnets. Ms Johns

Guitars provided or students may bring their own. Class runs 8 weeks ending Dec 11. Limited to 10 students. Both guitar classes are the same and open to students of all skill levels – just pick your day! Mr Smith

Online Registration Preparation & Instructions

STEP ONE

BEFORE September 30, visit the Tanglewood registration page on Homeroom.com and click “Sign Up” in the upper right to create an account:

  • Create Login & PW
  • Pre-enter Payment Information
  • Complete Student Information Form (teacher, allergies, etc.)

This will greatly speed up the process during live enrollment. You may filter by grade or day of week. Click on a course title for more information on that class. Then take note of the “vendors” (instructors) of the classes you’re interested in.

STEP TWO

On Monday, September 30 at 7:00 PM Enrollment will open at this link: 
https://www.homeroom.com/sites/tanglewood-elementary-fort-worth

  1. At least 30 minutes before enrollment opens, go to the link above and click “Login to Add” and login. (If you didn’t follow step one already, then do that now.)
  2. Use the filters to narrow down the view to just the classes you are interested in. At 7:00 PM, click “Add to Cart” to add your desired classes to your cart. Do NOT click “Add to Cart” before 7:00 PM or you’ll receive a notification that you are too early to register and your cart will be cleared.
  3. Once you’re done adding classes, click your cart button in the upper right hand corner and click “View My Cart”
  4. Proceed to checkout where you’ll add your student information for each class. Be sure to select an after class dismissal option for each course and student. Your spot in the class is held while you complete this information.
  5. After all student information has been added, you’ll finalize your purchase by selecting your pre-entered payment
  6. Lastly, once all classes have been booked, you’ll be able to see them in your Homeroom account or add them to your Google calendar.
  7. A confirmation email will be sent immediately after purchase and as a reminder 48 hours before the first class starts.

Enrichment classes are offered for grades 1-5. Please register for only one class per child on 9/30. You may register for additional classes on 10/2 from those courses with remaining spots. We want everyone to have an opportunity for at least one class.
