Get to Know Josh Roberts, the new Tanglewood Elementary principal

Josh Roberts is ready to meet the Tanglewood community and learn about the students he gets to help succeed.
Principal Roberts comes to Fort Worth ISD from Mansfield ISD, where he served as a principal, but his hometown is Farmington, New Mexico. Mr. Roberts graduated high school from the New Mexico Military Institute and went to college at the University of Texas at Arlington. His master’s degree is from Lamar University and he is in the doctoral program at Texas Christian University.
He’s not the only horned frog in the family either! His wife, Andrea, works for TCU football and his son, Sawyer, will start his freshman year in the fall. His daughter, Ava, is about to start her senior year playing volleyball at Dartmouth.
When he isn’t with his family or on campus, Principal Roberts enjoys music, movies, golfing, and exercising. While he doesn’t like scary movies, he’ll read any Stephen King book; especially his favorites “The Stand” and “Pet Semetary.”
He also performs in a comedy group called “Four Day Weekend” and has for over 20 years!
Heading into the school year, Principal Roberts knows that Tanglewood Elementary already performs well, so he’s asking, “what’s next?” He wants to challenge the staff, students, and community to be innovative and reach the next level of learning.
But mostly, he can’t wait for kids to be back in the building.
“I’ve always enjoyed working with kids. I connect to them easily,” Mr. Roberts said. “I love the process of learning, from curiosity to discovery.”
