Another amazing Tanglewood event is in the works….. Monday, May 4th will be this year’s Artapalooza—
If you are a new family to Tanglewood, you might wonder “What is Artapalooza?” Our Tigers consider it the best day of the year! This is a day where creativity and imagination come alive in a magical celebration of the arts! This event is one of the many reasons Tanglewood is so special, as our students get to experience their school transformed overnight into a wonderland of artistic expression. The day is fully dedicated to allowing our Tigers to experience many different types of fine arts, sparking hearts and minds.
During Artapalooza, each class has a carefully curated schedule that allows students to create exciting, hands-on art projects within their classrooms as well as participate in community visitor led events with artists of all kinds. Students will be engaged through workshops and performances that showcase the magic of creativity. With each lesson or performance, our kids get the chance to learn new skills, try new things, and see how art can bring people together. It’s a gift to take a day to let their imaginations run wild!
This wonderful experience wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our parents and community. Parent volunteers are vital to transforming the hallways along with brainstorming, preparing and overseeing each grade level’s day-of art projects. These parent led projects are carefully chosen to suit the theme and skill level of each grade. In addition, thanks to the incredible support from our donors, every aspect of Artapalooza has been fully funded in recent years. The kids simply get to show up and open their minds!
Our goal is simple: create an entire world of the arts around students, giving them the chance to experience the joy of creating, performing, and collaborating with others. While Artapalooza is a one day event, the students get to enjoy the fruits of their work as they wander the hallways for the week to follow. They also get the chance to show off their hard work on Gallery Night when the school is opened to families. We want them to walk away from Artapalooza with not just memories, but a deeper love for the arts, a renewed sense of self-expression, and the confidence to keep exploring their creativity for years to come!
Be on the lookout later in the year for the 2026 Artapalooza theme reveal and ways to get involved. For any questions, feel free to reach out to the Artapalooza chairs: Brittney Gregory, Kara Morey and Emily Wittenbraker get involved.
